What better way to spend a summer day than sipping a glass of wine while enjoying a breathtaking view of some of the Pacific Northwest’s most beautiful countryside? Oregon is fast becoming known as the go to place with pinot noirs, but wine makers here excel in a wide variety of vintages and blends to please every palette. So grab a designated driver and head to one of these acclaimed Oregon wineries this summer:
Willamette Valley Winery: One of the most visible wineries in Oregon, Willamette is easy just a quick jaunt down I-5 from Salem. Its ease of egress does not take away from this winery’s charm and stunning views. The tasting room, deck and tall lookout tower feature panoramic views of rolling hills and vineyards. Did we mention the wine is good too?
Girardet Winery: Located in the quiet Umpqua Valley wine region of Southern Oregon, Girardet Winery is a small, cozy winery that specializes in big, bold reds. While many wineries in Oregon are relatively new, the Girardet family has been growing grapes since 1971, all while retaining their small, family0run vineyard charm.
De Ponte Cellars: This small winery is hiding a big secret- one of the best pinot noirs around. Located on the outskirts of Portland, take in views of the beautiful Mount Hood while enjoying the delicious, and affordable, selections.
Pheasant Valley Winery: You may have heard of the Columbia River Gorge as a premier wine region in Washington, however, there are a number of great Oregon wineries in this region as well- including Pheasant Valley. Pheasant Valley offers award-winning reds and whites- making is a great fit for the Riesling and cabernet sauvignon lovers alike.
